I was bugged of my basil and other herbs in my kitchen dying on a regular basis – so I decided it was time for some help.
Based on an Arduino Uno, Garduino constantly measures air temperature & humidity, soil humidity and light intensity. A relais controls a small water pump and a LED grow light based on this data. An ultrasonic sensor measures the fill level of the water tank. The latest data is shown on an OLED display and is also transmitted via wifi to a web interface for easy monitoring and controlling. The system can also be controlled by a single push button with a RGB LED for status indication.
The housing is a modified IKEA PS 2014 greenhouse, Arduino and relais are protected by a watertight enclosure underneath the water tank, sensors and display are held by 3D-printed mountings.
